A hobby is an activity that we do because we truly enjoy it. It can be anything at all from acting to painting and even teaching. For most people a hobby is simply a relaxing way to pass spare time by doing something enjoyable. However, for many a hobby may double as a job or additional line of income. It can be difficult to know when to turn a hobby into a profession. For some it may be quite the risk to give up a regular day job in order to pursue hobby interests as a career. Make no mistake, there is plenty of reward associated with risk when it's well thought out and developed.

Start out small. If you are still in the beginning stages of deciding to turn your hobby choice into a career, tread slowly. For example, if you are a musician perhaps you will begin by teaching lessons to students part time in order to see if you receive enough demand for full time opportunities. Most people do not start out in their hobbies with the intent to make money but if the opportunity presents itself, it may be worth looking into further. Even the artist who enjoys doodling or playing with computer graphics has many ways that they could offer services to others.

If this doesn't get you excited, nothing will – you're about to discover a proven system for following your dream and turning something you love into a profitable business.

If you've ever asked your self any of these questions –

  • What would I really enjoy doing for the rest of my life?

  • Where is my ideal retirement paradise? How can I live there and do what I want to do too?

  • Do I want to work alone or with a partner? If with a partner, who?

Then this 3 step system will show you how.

Step #1 – Find a need, then fill it

If you love doing something special, if you would do it every day if you could, and if you could spend the rest of your life enjoying this one thing if you didn't have a care in the world…you can bet there are probably thousands of other people feeling just the same way about it right at this very moment.

Every person who wants the same thing as you do has a need they need filled in order for them to pursue their dream. One way you can discover what other people need and want is to look at what annoys you about your current hobby or pastime.

  • Are materials difficult or impossible to find locally?

  • Are parts and accessories very expensive and inferior quality?

  • Are suppliers lax in their delivery times or keep you waiting for hours when you call them or send an enquiry by email?

  • Is quality information like How-to courses, instruction manuals and tutorials difficult to find?

All of these problems create opportunities for you to build a business around your hobby and fill the needs of others. If you have the problem, you can rest assured that you aren't the only one…

Find a need related to your favorite hobby…and fill it

Step #2 – Create the solution to the problem

Once you have found a need, your job is to find the solution.

For example –

  • If materials are difficult to find locally, find an offline or online supplier who will drop ship them to the people who need them and work out a referral fee arrangement where you receive a commission on all sales made through you

  • If parts and accessories are expensive and low quality, find quality wholesale merchants who offer a money back guarantee and set up referral arrangements with them as outlined above

  • If suppliers take forever to send your products, find merchant's who offer guaranteed fast deliver and offer a referral program so you can earn a commission on all sales. You will often find with some searching that one or two merchants will fill all of these criteria at once…

  • If there is a lack of quality information available, take your knowledge of your favorite hobby and create the manuals and guides you wish you had when you were starting out

Find a need, and fill it using the information you already have in your head and freely available resources such as newspapers and the Internet to do your research.

Step #3 – Distribute your products and information

By far the most difficult part of this process is in finding says of distributing your products or information to the many thousands of people you'll need to find to create any sort of lasting success.

  • You can attend hobby and craft fairs where you man a booth and display your products

Should Hobby be made professional or Profession be made as hobby.

Confused ? Even I was when the question aroused………

Just think what if you hadn’t got the chance to continue with your hobby as profession, Will you be still thinking about it?

There are lots conspiracies followed by family, Society and status to carry on the profession or hobby to adapt.

Let us figure out something, there are few hobbies which doesn’t require much of investment, but there are  some which might require lots of investment like business.

The interests like sports, business, handicrafts, entertainment, modeling, singing, gaming etc can be fulfilled on various aspects. Either the family should belong to same profession,or support of sufficient funds should be available or status of the family in the society. All of the above mentioned professions would require sacrifice, determination and stand out performances.

There are people who have achieved to this level such as P T Usha, who fulfilled her dreams in couple of years with less resources available. But there are only fewer who could make their interests in profession.

The idea of joining a company and earning good package is a dream job. You will have everything in your life but there is some corner of dissatisfaction, may be which isn’t explored. So the time you feel this at one stage of life might not keep you  in capable of doing it.

Hence what do you do is a big question.

It is better to be satisfied by finance and funds flow rather than proceeding with hobby where you have to invest a lot and expect little. Indra Nooyi one of the leading business women has satisfied herself  by reaching the top at early age. But the question would ‘Are these professional really satisfied”?

You have a choice to justify both the categories as follows

  • If you have a hobby which you want to make profession then you need to start practicing at young age so that you can accomplish your hobby at the right time.

  • If it doesn’t work out then could give up the hobby for sometime in life and carry on with your identity for survival.

  • Few start at very young age and few start at later age but  in satisfactory level.

  • Make a hobby in which you get experience may be in a particular business or the services like interior designing, architecture, event management etc.

  • Be strong in whatever you do or the life makes you to do.

End of the day you are the one who experiences life and not others. At last I would like to say that “Whatever you do in life do it with heart, Respect and give identity to yourself’

“Give time for yourself, don’t be disappear in mechanical life”
