I have to admit that the Internet has made my life much easier. Our family bookshelves will never be taken up with a dust-collecting set of encyclopedias like my parents shelves did. I don't need to own piles of cookbooks (ok, ok, I do anyway) since I can find any recipe I want by wandering from site to site. And, I can communicate with friends and family via e-mail or some of those social places.

Even with all these things, I've found that I'm spending more and more time navigating from site to site in order to do the things I want to do. If I want  to post a particularly beautiful scrapbook page I've created I have to go to one site. If I'm trying to find a recipe I have to go to another. If I want to discuss something I find a third site; and on and on and on.

So, it was a relief when I finally happened upon a new web site that's by people who were in the same predicament as me. It's a social network site for people who have multiple hobbies or interests.  One site for all the things I'm interested in. What a concept. An even bigger deal for me was the fact that it's free. Not just free for some of the stuff and then more for "premium" things, it's free for everyone and everything.

It was nice to be able to join and create ONE profile. Then I went to the page where all the hobbies are listed, joined the groups of the ones I enjoy, and voila, that was that. Those hobbies automatically showed up on my personal page so I can go to whichever one I want with one click of my mouse. If I have pictures I want to add, I just put them on my personal photo gallery and then one click of the mouse if I want to include them in the gallery of the appropriate hobby.

The nice thing about it too is that I don't have to be a part of a particular group in order to enjoy what it has to offer. I have to admit that I wouldn't call myself a garden hobbyist, I do have flowers and it's nice to be able to go ask a question and have discussions with the other gardeners when I need to.

For any of you who have multiple hobbies and interests, I'd strongly encourage you to join this hobby community with me. It's www.hobcommunity.com. It's free; it's fun and it's got me hooked.
